For a cremation to be completed by Pine Grove Crematorium a Cremation Authorization needs to be signed by the closest next of kin. This authorization gives full disclosure of the cremation process and gives consent to Simple Cremation of Maine from the family to complete the cremation. Maine State Law does determine who has custody of remains of the deceased and who the closest next-of-kin would be. At Simple Cremation of Maine, we determine who that person is and abide by the custody statute for that next-of-kin to sign the cremation authorization.
The Maine Mortuary Trust is an optional part of the pre-arrangement process. This would be a way to pre-pay for your arrangements. This form is a way to establish a trust account that is made to fund funeral expenses, at the time of passing. If you would like to setup a pre-arrangement with or without a mortuary trust, please contact Simple Cremation of Maine, and a funeral director will be happy to sit down and walk you through the process.
Composing an obituary can be a difficult task for someone that has never done it before. We do find that many people do choose through Simple Cremation of Maine to compose their own obituary notice for the local paper. We have provided a guideline that complies the Associated Press Format which the newspapers customarily like to receive.
At the time arrangements are made a Directive for Release of Cremated Remains needs to be completed by the closest next-of-kin. They will determine who can pick up the cremated remains or give Simple Cremation of Maine detailed instructions about the final disposition of the cremated remains. Cremated remains are picked up at Pine Grove Crematorium at 1347 Hammond Street in Bangor. Identification needs to be provided to the staff so that they can determine that the correct person is receiving the remains.
Pine Grove Crematorium offers the use of a viewing window designed for families that would like to witness the cremation process. Much like going to a cemetery to witness a burial, people might also want to witness the cremation where it is the last time they can be with their loved one. To complete this, Pine Grove Crematorium does require a consent form to be signed by the closest next-of-kin allowing family and friends to be present for the cremation
