CLIFTON AND MIMS, FLORIDA - Wayne L. "Butch" Foster, 77, passed away at home in Clifton on June 16, 2024. He was born on December 22, 1946, the son of Arno and Eleanor (Hodgins) Foster.
Wayne grew up in Amherst, attended Brewer High School, and then, graduated from Ellsworth High School, Class of 1963.
Wayne was a proud member of many Masonic and Shrine Organizations including being a 54-year member of the Lygonia Lodge #40 A.F. & A.M of Ellsworth where he was Past Master in 1976, Chapter, Commandery, Council, Eastern Star, Anah Temple Shrine where he was a member of the Funster Unit and dressed up as "Bert" on Sesame Street. He thoroughly enjoyed the parades and circus seeing the excitement in the kids both young and old. He had also been a lifetime member of the Bangor Elks. He worked all his life in Lumber Mills and Machine Shops in the area, retiring from Hackett Machine and starting his own Shop.
His greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 40 years, Dolores "Lori" Foster; children, Donna Fitzgerald (Garrett), Jeni Foster and Todd Foster (Kate); grandchildren, Shayna Clark (Devon), Ael Fitzgerald, Minwin Fitzgerald, Eli Foster and Lucy Foster; siblings, Richard Foster, Susie Grover (Charlie), Pam Gardner, Diana Higgins (Tim), and Nancy Oakman (Jay); mother-in-law, Carol Gilbert and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and great friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Arno Foster, Judi Oakman, Eddie Foster and his in-laws.
A Masonic service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 20, 2024, with a memorial service to follow at the Anah Shrine Center, 1404 Broadway, Bangor. A private interment will be held in Mount Rest Cemetery, Amherst, immediately following the service.
