Vernon Farmer, 79, passed away peacefully on January 24th, 2018 surrounded by his twin daughters at Eastern Maine Medical Center. Farmer, as called by many, was born on May 23 1938 in Walterboro, South Carolina, the son of the late Arthur and Alma Farmer.
Farmer joined the Army at a young age until he found his true calling and passion as a truck driver. He will be forever known as a trucking legend. His name will live on from Maine to California. Farmer had a great love for all people and would have given the shirt off his back or his last penny to help a stranger. His huge heart will be missed by all.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by three brothers: Clarence, Julius and Leroy. He is survived by his twin daughters, Fayelynn Farmer and Desiree Watson and her husband John, his loving companion, Lillian Cleaves-Mahaney and children, sisters, Mammie Waller and her husband, Bob, Betty Tenner and her husband, Joe and Elizabeth Fields, sister-in-law Henrietta Farmer, as well as a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held 12 noon Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Pine Grove Crematorium and Reembrace Center, 1347 Hammond Street, Bangor with Rev. Grace Bartlett officiating.
