Amherst-Terry E. Shortt passed away December 4, 2024. He was born February 27, 1955 to Ralph and Darlene (Dawson) Shortt. After graduating from Hermon High School he proudly served 4 years in the U.S. Army. He then went on to serve in the National Army Guard for many years.
Terry had many different careers over his lifetime, including being a master electrician, but the one he enjoyed the most was his teaching career. Always ready with a story or joke, he loved to make people laugh. Terry was a talented musician, artist and has written a book that he hoped to publish. He was also a gun enthusiast and loved spending time at his hunting camp in Amherst. He will be remembered for the laughter he brought into our lives and his boundless generosity. He leaves a tremendous hole in our lives.
Terry is survived by his three children Caleb, Terry Lynn, and Cullen, who was very proud of. Also survived by his mother Frances Shortt, sisters Robin and husband Tim Whitney and Ginny and husband Dale McDonald, nephews Nate Bradford, Lucas McDonald and niece Kate Smith.
The family would like to thank the many friends he made at Brewer Rehab in Brewer. We hope he brightened their lives like he did ours. Also thank you to the nursing staff at Northern Light for taking such good care of Terry.
In lieu of a formal service, there will be a Celebration of Life for Terry at a later date.
