Stanley Dean Pluard of Eddington, Maine died unexpectedly at home after a brief illness on July 27, 2017.
He was born on May 4, 1937 in Smyrna Mills, ME the son of Thomas Pluard and Marion (Rockwell) Pluard Bragg. He attended school in Holden and afterwards worked as a hand-sewer until going to work at Eastern Fine Paper for over 30 years until his retirement. After retirement, he opened his business, S&S Auto Sales, which kept him active and out of his rocking chair. Stanley enjoyed running his business and getting to know his customers.
He met his wife Dorraine in 1975 and they were married on December 26,1977 and settled in Eddington where they raised their 9 children. When the children were grown they enjoyed traveling all over the world together from Aruba to Germany. One of Stanley’s favorite things were Thursday night family dinners, where there would be anywhere to 10-15 people gathering to “ask the weekly question” and laugh together.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Dorraine (Arey) Pluard, children Kathy Selfridge, Vicki Wolfe, Kelly Martinez, Suzette McKinney and husband Sandy, as well as their mother, Donna Pluard, Terri Jernigan and partner Steve, Robbie Jernigan and wife Sarah, Scott Jernigan, Craig Jernigan and wife Raylene. Grandchildren, Tim and Geoff Selfridge, Billy Wolfe, Merle MacIntosh, Tony Martinez, Amanda Robbins, Jackie Hutchinson, Jake McKinney, Daniel Stewart, Nicholas Ford, Chelsea Brown, Jeremy Jernigan, Kimberly and Kenny Cote, Trista Niles, Scotty, James, and Matthew Jernigan, Savanna Junkins, Mckenzie Jernigan, Katie, Jordan, Victoria Wood. Great grandchildren, Sierra and Hayden Wolfe, Gabriel and Ava Martinez, Lily Robbins, Stanley Dean Hutchinson, Lucas McKinney, Brandon Cote, Chloe and Sadie Stubbs, Nehemiah Cote, and Aubrey June Junkins. Many special nieces and nephews, and two special friends, Charlie Brown Smith and Larry Hallett.
The family would like to also extend their gratitude to the staff at Brewer Rehab and Amedisys Home Healthcare for their care and concern in recent months.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Chipper, infant daughters Brenda and Cindy, siblings, Dot, Pat, and Diddy.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at Clewleyville Cemetery in Holden, ME on Thursday August 3, 2017 at 2PM.
