Shirley Alley

December 29, 1944 — July 9, 2019

JONESPORT – Shirley E. “Crow” Alley, 74 passed away peacefully on July 9, 2019 at a Bangor hospital, with his loving family by his side. He was born on December 29, 1944, in Jonesport to John and Arlena Alley.
In his younger years he loved softball and played on many teams, his all-time favorite was The Downeasters. He also dug worms and clams. He was known as the “Wrinkle King” of Washington County, and enjoyed lobster fishing in recent years. In his later years he was an avid golfer and loved the competitions he had with his golfing buddies, Barney Smith, Brad Taylor, Tony French, Ralph Davis, John Grant, and many others. He thoroughly enjoyed "betting the horses" at the OTB in Bangor. He loved the Red Sox and took joy in aggravating Yankees fans. Shirley was a great instigator, he would wind people up and then wonder what “all the fuss was about?” He loved telling stories and getting people wound up.
Shirley is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Linda; brother, John, Jr. and his wife, Barbara; daughter, Jane McBride and husband, Eddie; son, Darren and fiancée, Heidi Alley; daughter, Tiffany Alley; "bonus" daughter, Michelle Brasslett and husband, Todd; "bonus" son, Jason Alley; Brother-in-law, Michael Bailey and wife, Nancy; father-in-law, Richard Bailey and significant other, Jennifer; grandchildren, Russell and his fiancée, Ashley, Ben, Adam, Kevin, Sammy, Jenna, Morgan, Ben and his fiancée, Ashley, Devyn, Austin, Kiley, Jacob, and Kaden (who was Papa's pride and joy); great-grandchildren, Aryanna, Natalie, and Adalynn.
In addition to his parents, Shirley was predeceased by his step-mother, Dorothy; sister, Joanne Bishop; mother-in-law, Mary Ellen Bailey; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held 1 pm, Sunday, July 21, 2019 at Wreaths Across America Gymnasium , 4 Point Street, Columbia Falls. Those who wish to remember Shirley in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Kaden Perkins Fund c/o Bangor Savings Bank, 425 Wilson St. Brewer, Me 04412, for his special needs grandson, Kaden.
