Russell Smith, 80, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at Eastern Maine Medical Center, in Bangor. Russell is the son of Harvey and Sadie (Toby) Smith, born August 2, 1938, at home in Charleston, Maine. Russell married Judith (Gilbert) on September 20, 1958. They built a home in Etna and together, they had 5 children; Daniel, Kelly, Carrie, Terri and Harvey Russell Christopher Smith.
Russell worked hard his whole life and providing for his family was most important. He loved horses and had a pair of draft horses, as well as, a small dairy farm with Judy. He worked as a diesel mechanic, was self-employed, plowed many roads in the winter months, hauled gravel and did ground work for home owners.
We celebrate the life of a much beloved son, brother, husband, uncle, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, Russell Smith. He is survived by his wife, Judy, his sister, Inez ; sister-in-law, Jerry; his 5 children, son and daughter in-laws, many grandchildren, great grand children; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends. Russell was predeceased by his parents, siblings and grandson, Dustin Smith.
