MACHIAS Roy Melody - It is with deep and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Roy Melody on January 20, 2021 to be with his Lord and Saviour at age 76.
Roy was born in Wilmington Delaware in 1944. A graduate of the University of Delaware, He was a very successful drug and alcohol counselor for over 30 years. His work spanned several locations including Delaware, Vermont, Massachusetts and the Cayman Islands. Roy often commented that counseling was not a choice but a calling. He truly dedicated his life to his profession and helped thousands of people to become and remain clean and sober.
Roy’s great passion was his vast rare book collection. He collected every kind of book from classic literature to pop culture and prized them all equally. He used to say, “I am happy so long as I can be surrounded by my family and my books.”
He was a dear, sweet, kind and thoughtful man who loved with abandon and was deeply loved and respected by his many friends and family members. He will be deeply missed.
Predeceased by his father Roy Melody Senior; mother, Sarah Melody and his precious dog, Jack.
Roy leaves behind his beloved wife, Ramona Melody and his daughters, Erin Melody and Noelle Le along with many, many friends and relatives.
Due to the current COVID19 pandemic, a special memorial service will be held later this year in the Cayman Islands. Condolences to the family may be expressed at Memorial-Alternatives.com
