BANGOR - Rockey A. Smith SR., 71, passed away December 24, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born September 8th, 1949, in Bangor.
Rockey graduated from Governors Baxter School for the Deaf in 1966. He was a hard-working man, working in shoe shops around Bangor, then delivering for the Bangor Daily News with his wife Linda for many years. Rockey was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Rockey enjoyed ocean fishing, junking, and spending time with his friends and family.
Rockey is survived by his wife of 40 years Linda Smith; son, Rockey Smith Jr.; daughter, Carla Smith-Moore, and her husband, Anthony; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Smith, Brock Smith-Moore, and Cole Smith Moore; mother-in-law, Maud Sanborn; brother-in-law, Carlton Sanborn, and his wife; his best friend, Richard Simmons; two half-brothers; a half-sister; and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his foster parents, Ralph and Louise Hammond; brother, Allen Smith Jr.; his blood father, Allen Smith Sr.; one half-brother; and his special Pitbull, Rusty.
Rockey will be remembered for his colorful sense of humor, his resourcefulness, and how he would help anyone in need of help.
There will be a huge whole in the world without you here, and no one will be able to take your place. We will always miss you, we love you, and think of you every day.
