Michael J. Martin
Bangor
Michael J. Martin, 65, passed away peacefully June 11, 2019 at his home after a 13 year battle with cancer. He was born in Bangor February 7, 1954 the son of Franklin and Laura (Perkins) Martin.
Michael “The Motor” Martin was a running back at Bangor High School, class of 1973. In 1972, Bangor was playing Cony for the Class A championship when 11 seconds into the game, Mike took the kickoff for 89 yards. A very proud moment. He loved sports of all kinds. His favorite pastime was watching Tom Brady and the New England Patriots with a cold PBR. He was a hard working man who spent 25 years building log homes for Northeastern Log Homes and 3 years building trusses for Crescent Lumber. His generous and caring soul loved spending time at the family built camp. He is survived by his best friend of 17 years Ellen Hartery, two daughters; Lorena Martin and her future husband Sean Curtis of Standish; Lindsey Martin of Sunrise, Florida; one brother Mark Martin of Holden. A Funeral Mass will be held 11 am Saturday, June 15, 2019 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, 207 York St. and a celebration of his life will follow downstairs. In lieu of flowers any donations can be made to Lafayette Family Cancer Center, C/O Northern Light Health Foundation, P.O. Box 931, Bangor, ME. 04402-0931.
