Margaret Ellen Simpson
November 21, 1946 - January 3, 2025
Margaret was born on November 21, 1946, to Mike and Virginia Parsons of Carmel. She attended Carmel schools and graduated from Hermon High School in 1964. She then met the love of her life, Donald J Simpson of Bangor and married in 1966. She held many different jobs over the years, her favorite being a caring and compassionate Mother and Grandmother.
Margaret is survived by a loving family who will miss her dearly. Her significant other of many years, Robert J Martin of Carmel; children Amy Simpson of Carmel and Donald (Skip)and Michelle Simpson, also of Carmel. Grandchildren Bradley Thibodeau, Maci & Jacob Forsman, Elizabeth & David Keirstead, Donnie Simpson, and Peter & Rebecca Parsons. Great Grandchildren William, Emma-Lee, Oaklynn and Piper. Siblings Michael Parsons of Etna, Gerald & Sharrlyn Parsons of Carmel, and Anita & Frank Thomas of Corinth. She is also survived by many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband Donald, in 1983. Also, by her parents Mike and Virginia Parsons, Brother David Parsons, sister-in-law Janice Parsons, and Great Granddaughter Kinsley Simpson.
Margaret was involved in many groups and activities including the planning of the very first Carmel Days Festival, a volunteer for the Carmel Fire Dept Auxiliary, she held many offices in her years as a member of the Carmel Union Congregational Church and did years of fundraising for Pine Tree Camp in support of her Grandson, Bradley. Some of her favorite hobbies included ceramics at her lifelong friend Ina Jarvis's, scrapbooking, playing cards, reading, and cooking for her family.
The family would like to thank all the home health caregivers who helped keep Mom home with us for as long as possible. Also, Stillwater Health Care and St Joseph Hospice for all their care and support.
Services will be held on January 18th, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Carmel Union Congregational Church, 37 Plymouth Rd, Carmel. The family invites you to share food and refreshments immediately following the service at the Etna Community Center, 17 Shadow Lane, Etna. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to either Pine Tree Camp, 149 Front St, Bath, ME 04530 or the Carmel Union Congregational Church, PO Box 111, Carmel, ME 04419.
