Marcia “Marsh” Evans
STOCKTON SPRINGS- Marcia “Marsh” Evans, 61, passed away on February 7th after a long, quiet battle with cancer. She was born July 6, 1956 the daughter of Thomas and Charlene (La Plante) Evans. Marcia grew up in Old Town and graduated from the University of Maine where she majored in music education. She taught in the Dover-Foxcroft Schools for many years and later worked for Northern Kingdom Music. Marsh eventually moved to her beloved Penobscot Bay region where she had summered as a child. There she began her dream of providing schools and colleges around the state with percussion equipment and services. She was known and loved by music educators and students as an enthusiast and supporter of percussive arts.
Marcia was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Charlene Evans of Old Town and is survived by her brother Joel of Newburgh, New York, two aunts, Yvonne La Plante of Milford, and Beverly Ferland of Gorham, numerous cousins, and many dear friends.
Marcia’s legacy are really the friends and students that she cultivated over the years… an inspirational group of classmates, educators, public servants, musicians and people who make a such positive difference in the lives of others. If Marcia bragged about anything in this life, it was about the quality of the people she loved.
A memorial will be held at Sandy Point, Maine in the summer .Condolences to the family may be expressed at Memorial-Alternatives.com.
