Louis Israel Wood

KENDUSKEAG - Louis I. “Woody” Wood, 86, passed away March 21, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 5, 1939, in Old Town, Maine, the son of Augustin Wood and Madeline Elizabeth (Spencer Wood) Gonyer.

Louis was quite a comedian, making people laugh wherever he went! He was loved by all who knew him and known as "Woody" or "Uncle Louie". Louis was a smart, strong, loving, hardworking man. He was a truck driver for many years driving "The Bone Buggy" with Twin Town Rendering and then later driving for Hartt Transportation. He later began his own business, "Woody's Small Engine Repair". Dad was a jack-of-all-trades; from milking cows on a farm in his early days in Connecticut to haying & harvesting corn at Davis Farm in Kenduskeag, into his eighties.

Louis enjoyed being outdoors; in his younger years camping, picnics and fishing with his kids. Later, he and Brenda enjoyed camping for many years. He enjoyed playing Wii with Brenda and Paul every Friday night. Dad was always tinkering on something. He was great at fixing things, from putting a bulldozer together from many barrels of parts without a manual to any small engine repair. In later years, Louis would go to McDonald’s often with Paul for coffee and to chat with friends; special time with his sister, Nancy and brother-in-law, Bill on Mondays. Tuesdays were car ride adventures and lunches with his daughter, Cathy and then Dairy Queen with his daughter, Karen, with pop-up guests of the boys.

The family of Woody would like to extend a special thank you to Northern Lights Hospice, Tiana, Brittany and Peter for going above and beyond.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, James Wood and Jesse Wood; sisters, Gloria Jones and her husband, Jonesy and Linda Morris; his parents-in-law, Walter and Ruth Spearing; brothers-in-law; Harold Spearing and Stan White and sister-in-law, Carol Ann Sandstrom.

He is survived by his wife, of 41 years, Brenda; and five children from marriage to Susan E. (Mason) Wood, Jeff Wood and Valerie, of Glenburn, Bruce Wood, of Hudson, Karen and Kenny Rogerson, of Bangor, Catherine and Robert Allard, of Glenburn, and Mike and Kim Wood, of Bangor; his special cat son, "Marky"; grandchildren, Erin, Cody, Garrett, Danielle, Brian, Peter, Tyler, Tiana, Evan, Brittany and Heaven; great-grandchildren, Brannen, Danny, Louis, Mason, Holly, Harold, Raiden, Myles, Timothy and Ian; sisters, Marie Kristopik, of New Britain, Connecticut, Nancy Mclaughlin and her husband Bill, of Orrington, Maine, Shirley Francis, of Old Town, Maine And Jerri White, of Brewer; sisters-in-law; Kathleen Wood, of Eddington and Roni Mason, of Bristol, Connecticut, Ruth Lovely and her husband, Ed, of Danielson, Connecticut; brother, Freddy Wood and his wife, Debbie, of Orrington, Maine; brothers-in-law, Paul Spearing, of Kenduskeag, Mikele Spearing and his wife, Christine, of Bangor, Ronald Spearing and his wife, Rae, of Winterport, and Raymond Mason of Lawrenceville, Georgia; many nieces and nephews and special friends, Walter Weymouth and Eric Nason and his wife Sally.
