Linda Lougee

December 19, 1942 — March 5, 2025

Linda (Speed) Lougee, 82, embraced in the loving arms of her daughter Julie, passed peacefully, on March 5, 2025, at her home in Williamsburg TWP. She was born in Milo, Maine on December 19, 1942 to Philip Speed and Dorothy (Pratt) Speed. A proud graduate of Foxcroft Academy (1960), Linda frequently reminded her husband that she first attended school in Atkinson, and throughout her life, she was proud of her Atkinson roots. After graduating Foxcroft Academy, Linda attended Husson College. Linda returned to Atkinson after college, reuniting with a high school friend, Walter, and a budding romance soon resulted in a proposal of marriage. Linda and Walter married on March 16, 1963, moving to Milo in 1968, where she raised their three children. When her children were older, Linda began work for MSAD 41, where she worked for twenty-five years. Linda spent summers at the family camp on Sebec Lake, and after retiring, spent winters in Zephyrhills, FL. She was an avid quilter, knitter, and seamstress. Her children, grandchildren, loved ones, and friends all benefited from her talent. She was resourceful and talented. If you had a task to complete, she was always willing to pitch in, gleefully carrying the greater burden. She will be remembered for her creativity and boundless energy, but most of all, she will be remembered for the unconditional love she shared with us every day of her life.

Linda was predeceased by her parents and sister, Judith Harvey. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Walter Lougee; three children, Nancy (Sidney) Deem of St George, Utah, Bruce Lougee of Bangor, ME, and Julie (John) Whitten of Milo, ME; three grandchildren, Dylan Lougee, Emily Barnes Maris, and Hunter Whitten; and three great-grandchildren, Nolan Maris, Avery Maris, and Aubri Maris; sisters, Carol Patterson of Falmouth and Susan Cannon (Peter) of Atkinson; beloved cousins, Nathalee (Floyd) Marsh and Sharon (Dick) Treichler; nieces, a nephew, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Linda's family wish to extend sincere gratitude to our mother's primary caregivers since her stroke, Porkie and Liza. You have treated our mother as your own, caring for more than just her physical needs. For your compassionate care and unwavering support of her and our father, we will be forever grateful. Thank you also to her dear high school and life-long friends, Peggy and Sharon. Your laughter-filled get togethers buoyed her spirits, especially this past year. Nathalee and Floyd, thank you for all the time you were "on call" to assist Mom. Last, but not least, thank you to Rhonda and Joan for your visits and your video calls, which cheered her more than you will ever know.

Friends and family will gather to celebrate Linda's life 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Brownville Community Church 84 Church St, Brownville, ME
