Leroy Dubay

HAMPDEN & BANGOR – LeRoy “Sonny” Dubay, 73, died peacefully April 1, 2019, at his home surrounded by family. He was born May 18, 1945, in Van Buren, the son of Roy B. and Jeanne M. Dubay.

Sonny graduated from The University of Maine, Class of 1968, and then entered into the United States Army, Military Intelligence, as a Vietnamese language interpreter, where he spent close to two years in Vietnam. While in the Army, he was earned two Bronze Stars. Sonny was honorably discharged in 1972. He married Louise Violette in 1973, and finished his Master’s Degree from Husson College, Class of 1975. He had a passion for golf, and was a member of Rocky Knoll Country Club in Orrington.

In addition to his parents, Sonny was predeceased by a sister, Irene Nadeau. He is survived by his wife, Louise Dubay; a son, Jeremy Dubay and fiancée, Leeanne Vaughn; a daughter, Mariah Dubay; grandchildren, Evan Dubay, Amelia Dubay, Lilyanah Sirois, Ellalee Dubay; sisters, Jacqueline Hundsader and husband, Thomas, Bernardine Quartuccio and husband, Charlie; a brother, Steve Dubay and wife, Sallie; many niece and nephews; and all of his special golf friends at Rocky Knoll and in South Carolina.

A gathering will be held at a later date during golf season.
