CARMEL – Lawrence K. “Larry” Holland, 61, passed away unexpectedly Friday, February 21, 2025, at a Bangor hospital. He was born January 13, 1964, in Bangor.
Larry spent 33 years serving with the Maine Army National Guard; his units were his second family. He served in the 262 in Bangor, 1136th in Bangor, 240th in Augusta and the 286th in Bangor. Larry Deployed with the 1136th in 2003, to Kuwait and in 2009, to Afghanistan with the 286th. He was presently working on Camp Keyes at the print plant in Augusta as the Publication and Forms Technician of the National Guard. He enjoyed traveling with the team he was on from state-to-state educating units on proper management of publications and forms, the print plant was his second home and family. He enjoyed the people he worked with there and that was what kept him driving from Bangor to Augusta for all those years.
When Larry was younger, he and his business partner, Jay Carsley, had a mobile DJ service in which the two of them had more fun than should have been allowed. Larry loved music and loved to dance. His favorite artist was Elvis even dancing to his music at our wedding.
Larry is survived by his wife, Karla (Rudnicki) Holland, of Carmel; his three sons, Kyle Rudnicki and his wife, Lily of Hampden, Kevin Holland and his wife, Mary, of Carmel and Kasey Holland and his wife, Briana, of Bangor; six grandchildren, Flint, Natalie, Clyde, Noland, Hudson, Baby Hazel and bonus daughter, Jaclyn Ellis; mother and father-in-law, Karl and Suzan Rudnicki, of Carmel; sister, and brother-in-law, Windy Rudnicki and Dan Meehan, of Rochester, New Hampshire, nieces and nephew, Stesha, MacKayla and Zander and many cousins whom he adored.
Larry touched the lives and hearts of everyone he met. Many people have said that they are going to miss his laugh, jokes, sarcasm and bear hugs the most. Larry was a loyal friend and companion. No one will ever come close to filling his shoes; He will be missed greatly.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30a.m., Friday, March 7, 2025, at Calvary Chapel Penobscot Valley at 1116 Lakins Rd in Etna ME.
