HAMPDEN - Keith Brian Gould, 68, of Hampden, died unexpectedly Feb. 3, 2018, at EMMC, in Bangor. He was born in Dixmont, Oct. 21, 1949, the 7th son and 12th child of Raymond and Nellie (Benson) Gould.
After a short stint in the US Army, Keith established Gould's Automotive in 1972. Besides being a master mechanic, he was a talented sculptor and artist, maker of fine wooden bowls, an avid hunter and fisherman; fanatic snowmobiler and ATV-er, boater, paddleboarder, hiker, and lover of all things outdoors.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his infant son Daniel; his brothers Bruce, Gerald, Richard, and Roger; brother-in-law Robert Staples. He is survived by his beloved wife and constant companion of 23 years, Linda Myers; son Kurt and wife April of Michigan; daughter Kristy of Glenburn; four grandchildren Duncan, Spencer, Jasmine and Lydia; brother Kenneth and wife Alberta of Etna; sisters Selda and husband George Maxsimic of Orrington; Carla and husband Tony LaRoche of Holden; Charleen and husband John Hand of Bangor; Marion and husband Keith Elwell of Vassalboro; Adria and husband James Hughes of Monroe; Gladys Staples of Holden; sister-in-law Jenny Gould of Albion; sister-in-law Faye Gould of Frankfort; special nephews George, Darren, and Andrew; numerous other nephews, nieces; grandnephews and grandnieces; stepsons Matt Cohen and wife Renee of Florida; Brett Cohen and wife Beth of Baltimore; Jake Cohen of Los Angeles; and four step-grandchildren Thor, Genevieve, Kayla and Alana.
There will be no funeral service. There will be a "gathering" of family and friends on Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, at the Goodwill Riders Snowmobile Clubhouse, Western Avenue, Hampden, from 3-7 p.m. to celebrate the life of this remarkable man. Anyone who ever crossed paths with Keith knows what an extraordinary man he was. He could find a common interest with every person who shared a conversation with him.
