BREWER - Judith Noreen Gormely, a vibrant storyteller, devoted mother, and cherished grandmother, passed away peacefully in her home on April 3rd, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on August 15th, 1946, Judith lived a life filled with adventure, creativity, and an unwavering love for her family.
A proud graduate of Brewer High School, Judith furthered her education at the University of Maine and graduated from Husson College, where she cultivated her passion for learning. Judy was known for her passion for writing and her remarkable ability to weave tales of her extensive world travels. She was very proud of the fact that she was a published author. Her stories, rich with detail and humor, captivated all who had the pleasure of hearing them. Judith's love for the arts extended beyond writing; she found joy in crafting and baking, especially with her grandchildren, often sharing her delicious creations with family and friends. She loved nature and flowers and especially the flowering apple tree in her front yard.
Judith was a remarkable linguist, speaking four different languages, which allowed her to connect with people from all walks of life. Her quick wit, humor, and inner strength were hallmarks of her character, and she loved to share life lessons with her children and grandchildren, imparting wisdom that will be cherished for generations. A true connoisseur of comfort food, she had a special fondness for Tri City pizza, often sharing it with loved ones during joyful family meals.
Judith is survived by her loving family, including her sister-in-law, Patsy Pearson; sister, Barbara J. Lawson; brother-in-law, David Lawson; brother, John E. Gormely Jr., and sister-in-law, Nancy Gormely, along with many cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews. She leaves behind her four children, Joseph Philbin, Tiffany Condon, Paul Toole and his wife Leigh Toole, and Meredith Toole and her fiancé, James Bond; her grandchildren, Brian Duncan and his girlfriend, Maesea Estabrook and Rya Kosnow, Kayla Condon and Jake Condon, Alexandria Toole, Dylan and Zach Harmon, Bella and Viella Philbin were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Judith was predeceased by her father, Lt. Col. (Ret), John Edward Gormely, her mother, Noreen Alice Adams Gormely, her brother, William Adam Gormely, and her sister, Elizabeth Jon Gormely.
A service to honor Judith's life will be held at Woodland Cemetery on N Main St in Brewer on Saturday, May 31st, at 11:30 AM. A Celebration of Life will follow at the home of Shelley and Don Williams, located in Brewer, where family and friends can gather to share memories and celebrate the remarkable life of Judith Noreen Gormely.
