ROCKPORT - Juanita E Corson, 89, passed away Saturday morning, May 2, 2020, at the Sussman House in Rockport, Maine, from complications due to a fall. She was born on August 10, 1930 in Newburgh, Maine, the daughter of Edmund and Laverna (Parsons) Patten.
Juanita lived for many years in the Hampden and Brewer areas and retired from Eastern Maine Medical Center where she was a top-notch medical transcriptionist. Juanita was especially known for her fabulous flower gardens, her extensive knowledge of flowers and birds, and as an accomplished seamstress. For many years Juanita was an avid downhill skier; once earning an award for skiing the most days of anyone during a winter at Squaw Mountain. Her best days over the years were spent digging in the dirt and expanding her beautiful gardens.
Juanita was predeceased by her son, Sheldon L Corson, and daughter-in-law, Jeri Corson.
She is survived by her granddaughters, Heather Jewell Corson and husband, Marlon Alarcon of Rockland, Maine; Lani Kelley Corson and husband Kenneth Ziegler of Astoria, New York; two great-granddaughters, Elizabeth Anne Alarcon and Zoe Lynn Ziegler; as well as a former daughter-in-law and special friend, Catherine Jewell of Lincoln, Maine.
The family would like to thank the staff at Woodlands of Rockland, where Juanita had been a resident for the previous year, and the amazing staff at Sussman House for their kind and compassionate care in her final hours.
A private family celebration of Juanita’s life will be held at a future date.
