John Cutler

John Edward Cutler, 61, of Charleston, passed away unexpectedly on December 28, 2023. He died peacefully at home in his recliner. John was born in Glenburn on September 14, 1962, the youngest child of Paul and Ruth (Wiles) Cutler. He grew up in Glenburn and later made his home in Charleston with his partner of 40+ years, LouAnn Smock.

As a youth, Johnny worked with Dad at the family sawmill. He found his true niche in auto body work. He spent years perfecting his skills and was often in high demand with many well known shops in the area. He had an eye for detail and could restore the worst mangled mess back to its original look.

Johnny was born with a big heart, a gift of gab and he seemed to live by “Murphy’s Law” (Google it). He loved to tell his stories that proved that law, and shared with anyone who would listen. As he talked of the vehicles he was working on, I wonder if he ever knew that many of us had no idea what car part he was explaining?

He was always there for anyone who needed a hand; no job too big to attempt, and even if it didn’t turn out quite right, well another good story, anyway. He opened his door to anyone needing a place to stay. He loved dogs and always had one or more of his own. His sweet Tiki will miss him dearly, as will his grand dog, Cinnamon.

Johnny was predeceased by his parents; a daughter, Natasha; sisters, Marcia Nowell and Beverly Peltonen and Brother, Paul. He leaves behind his life partner, LouAnn; children, Joshua and Jessica; grandchildren, Skye, Little Josh, Hope, Tyler and Taylor; sisters, Carol Treadwell, Linda Embry, Jane Withee and husband Pete; brother, Jim and wife Nancy; many nieces, nephews and friends.

There will be no funeral at this time. The family will plan a celebration of life at a later date
