Jo-Ann R. Holmes
Winterport - Jo-Ann Holmes, 78, passed away Friday, April 24, 2020 at her home in Winterport after a hard fought battle with heart and lung disease. She was born May 25, 1941 in Old Town, the daughter of Anne Coakley and Joseph Goldman.
After graduating from Bangor High in 1959, Jo-Ann met and married her husband, Kenneth Holmes in 1962 and together they raised a family and enjoyed 38 years of marriage. She worked alongside her beloved husband for many years in the automotive industry and after his death, worked at Leroy H. Smith school as a secretary where she enjoyed interacting with students daily. Jo-Ann enjoyed her flower gardens, traveling, spending time on her screen porch with family and friends enjoying good food and wine, and being with her grandchildren as much as possible.
She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth. She is survived by her loving family: daughter, Barbara Parent and her husband Mark; sons Dan Holmes and wife Debbie and John Holmes and wife Jennifer, all of Winterport; sister Janet Bertucci; nephew James Bertucci, his wife Cary and children Brendan and Avery; four grandchildren she adored, Chris and wife Eve Parent, Robin Holmes, Lucas Holmes and Alex Holmes; and very dear friends Reggie Rancourt and Bonny Parent. She was recently blessed with a great granddaughter, Nel Parent,who she was determined to live to meet.
The family would like to thank Jenn and Melissa of Northern Light Hospice for the compassionate care they provided Jo-Ann over the past few months. Funeral services will be private. Gifts in her memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
