Hermon – Jesse W. Tolman, 70, passed away at home, January 22, 2015, from many ongoing health problems. Jesse was born October 26, 1944 in Newburgh, the son of Alton and Olive (Cobb) Tolman.
In his early years he was a truck driver for Rice & Miller & Emery Waterhouse Co. He served as a mechanic in the Army during the Korean War. He was in the Merchant Marines traveling all over and later demolished buildings for a living. For many years he ran the Jesse Tolman Firewood business. He raced cars and won many trophies. He was a member of the Odins Wrath Motorcycle Club owning a fine 1950 Pan Head motorcycle. He was a life member of the Bangor BPOE #244 Elks Lodge, was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, and he loved all things outdoors. Although he appeared rough and burley on the outside, one could catch a tear rolling down his cheek when watching something sad on TV. He loved his Dobermans and will be sadly missed by Duncan.
Jesse is survived by his Life Partner of 34 years, Kathleen Oxley; her daughter Laurie Martin and her husband Tony; son Jesse Lynn of Old Orchard Beach; daughter Amanda Tavernakis and husband Pete, and their children Forest and Fern of Waldoboro; siblings Alton and wife Tracey of Newburgh, Arthur of Stockton Springs, Raymond and wife Carol of Newburgh, and Grace Davis and partner Arthur, of Milford. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother Gerald and a sister Paulette. There will be no services per Jesse’s request. Those who wish to remember Jesse in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mt. Hope Ave., Bangor, ME 04401.
