Janice (Earley) Lincoln Steiger, 72, passed away January 17, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Jan was born May 16, 1942 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from Bangor High School in 1960. Jan loved animals and was the owner of Jan-Co Kennels in Holden, ME. After moving to Ellsworth, Jan and Jack opened Coastal Auto Parts. She was a member of the Ellsworth Lioness Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Women of the Moose Lodge. While living in Bermuda, Jan served as a United States Agricultural Inspector.
Jan fondly remembered the time spent living in Ellsworth, Beech Hill Pond, Calais, Bermuda, and Upper Peninsula Michigan. Once retired, Jan and her husband enjoyed traveling the country in their RV, visiting family and friends between Florida, Louisiana, and Texas. Jan and Jack slowed their travels and returned to Maine where she enjoyed feeding wild animals, cheering on her favorite NASCAR driver Tony Stewart and spending time with family and friends at their home in Orrington.
She is survived by her husband, Jack of Orrington; three daughters, Laura (Lincoln) Fahey and husband Jeff of Bangor, ME, Lisa (Lincoln) Duhon and husband Carl of Broussard, LA, and Dodi (Lincoln) Austin and husband Harvard of Ellsworth, ME; two step-children, Carmen (Steiger) Spox and husband Jay of Orrington, ME, and Brent Steiger and wife Tricia of Brewer, ME; and eleven grandchildren, Davon Johnson, Jodi and Amy Fahey, Lincoln and Lucas Duhon, Nichole and Dana Austin, Kyle and Haley Spox, Zachary and Olivia Steiger. She is also survived by her sister Barbara Renard and husband John of Bangor; and her brother James Earley of New York; along with six nieces and their families.
She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Ella and Joseph Panish, and her father and step-mother, William and Ruth Early.
A Celebration of her Life was held at her home in Orrington on Sunday, January 18, 2015.
