Harold Sherwood

March 27, 1948 — November 20, 2023

Carmel/Kenduskeag - Harold E. Sherwood passed away at home peacefully surrounded by family and friends on November 20th, 2023, after a long illness. He was born March 27th, 1948, son of James and Margert Sherwood.

Besides his wife of 40 years, Brenda (Smith) Sherwood, he is survived by 4 children. Daughter, Desirae Sherwood, Son Harold Jr and Wife Jenny Sherwood, Daughter, Robin and Husband Christopher Cowen, Daughter, Frankie Burton, and his fur babies Meka, Mollie, Milo, and Mischief who he loved so much. 4 Grandchildren, Natasha, Connor, Britani, and Zackary. 2 Great Grandchildren, Brothers, Sisters, Many Nieces, nephews and friends.

Harold attended Hermon School department up to the 9th grade, and then enlisting into the Air Force Stationed in England from 1967 to 1971. Harold was a truck driver for most of his life, he worked several years as an over the road owner operator for Dysart’s and Pottles Transportation. Making many friends along the way. He competed in the Maine State truck Rodeos for four years winning 1st place twice and competing in nationals at Minneapolis Mn and Chicago ILL, 2nd place once, and 3rd once while working for Pottles transportation.

Retiring 2 years ago, In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, Hunting, Fishing, the outdoors and one of his most important, spending time with his family. He was an inspiration to many.

The Family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice and especially, one special aide Shalynn for the love and exceptional care she showed him while he was in their care. Also, we would like to recognize all the nurses, aides, and staff for their support.

There will be a Graveside service on December 2,2023 at the Highland Cemetery Rt 2 Carmel. Pastor Steven Hall officiating, with Military Honors. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life immediately following the service at Carmel Snowmobile Club rt 69 / Hampden rd. Carmel, Me. With Refreshments.
