Gerry Robert Willard, 90, of Caribou, passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home in Hampden, Maine on January 13, 2024, surrounded by the love and care of his family.
Born in Pittsfield, ME. on February 5th, 1933, Gerry grew up in Caswell and Caribou and graduated from Caribou High School. A life-long resident of Caribou, he spent most of his years at his “Northern Acres” farm, where he enjoyed his horses, birds and wildlife. He relished tending to his property and sharing his “piece of ground” with wonderful friends and neighbors.
Over the years Gerry loved spending time on the Allagash River and at camp where he admired the quiet splendor of the woods, waters and wildlife of Northern Maine. He spoke fondly of the happy retirement years on the road with Freda, enjoying new experiences and visiting family and friends.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 57 years, Freda Doris (Drake) Willard. Gerry is survived by his daughter, Debra Willard Webb and husband, Tom, of Hampden; and sons, Gregory Willard and wife, Peggy, of Glenburn, and Kendall Willard of Kingfield; Five grandchildren, Jason, Kelly, Melanie, Kristen and Jessica; eight great-grandchildren; and his dear friend Dorothy (Dot) Gustin.
In remembrance, his family will hold a celebration of Gerry’s life, on June 1, 2024, from 9 to 12 AM, at Northern Acres, his Caribou home.
