Erwin B. "Sonny" Newcomb III, passed away at home in Brewer, November 12, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was born, March 23, 1947 in Bangor, the son of E. Barrett Newcomb, Jr. and Ruth (Lydick) Newcomb Nevins.
Sonny was a barber and owned shops in East Millinocket, Brewer, and Center Beauty and Barber in Bangor. He was also the past manager and past president of the Brewer Eagles Club F.O.E. #3177. Sonny was also a notary and performed several weddings.
In addition to his parents, Sonny was also predeceased by his stepfather, John Nevins. He is survived by his daughter, Heidi Newcomb Moir and grandchildren, Ariel and Zander; his longtime girlfriend, Carol Gallupe of Bangor; his sisters, Janice Campbell of Brewer, Brenda Rowe and her husband, Jim of Dearing, GA, Loreen Reynolds and her husband Steve of Harlem, GA; his stepmother, Bernice "Bunny" Newcomb and her son, Paul Gallant and his wife, Cathy. Uncle Sonny also had several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to Hospice of Eastern Maine for the care they took of Sonny.
A private graveside service will be held in late spring.
