Erna Zopf, 96, died peacefully in Maine on July 29, 2022 with her daughters by her side. Erna was born in Austria and was the eldest of six children. While in Austria, she worked, married, had her first child, and built a home. In the early 1960s Erna followed her husband to New Hampshire, where there was a unique work opportunity awaiting him.
Once in New Hampshire, Erna learned English, had her second child, built two new homes, and worked many years. Erna was an industrious individual who knit beautiful sweaters, sewed, crocheted, cooked wonderful Austrian food (her family’s comfort food), enjoyed nature, her flower and vegetable gardens, and friends/family.
While in Erna’s early 90s, she again demonstrated her resiliency by her willingness to move to Maine where she established new friendships, spent more time with family, and continued to enjoy fitness and nature.
Erna is predeceased by three siblings Roswitha, Traudi, and Hansi. She is survived by two brothers Ludwig and Fritz; two daughters Maria and Gretchen (Bob); four grandchildren Heather (Rob), Julie (Andy), Karoline and Krista; two great grandchildren Allie and Andrew.
Erna is thankful to her former employers, friends, family, and Hans and Sandi for all their help.
A private family gathering is planned to honor her kind, industrious spirit.
