Bar Harbor - Ellen M. Mallar, 74, passed away peacefully at her home on May 21, 2019. She was born July 4, 1944, in Portland the daughter of Max and Alberta Berry (McArthur).
Ellen graduated from Calais high school in 1962. She married Donald (Donnie) Mallar in 1968 and together they raised four children her daughter Kimberly and his three sons Richard, Roland, and Robert. Ellen was dedicated, thoughtful, and caring. A quiet, gentle soul who was content at home spending time with her family. She worked for many years in banking and was on the Machias bowling team "Lucky 7's". Harness horse racing, Nascar's Jeff Gordon, music, dancing, the ocean and talking about growing up in Alexander were her passions.
Ellen was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 44 years, stepson Robert Mallar, and her precious Great Granddaughter Hope Thibeault. Surviving, in addition, are her brothers Richard and his wife Katherine Berry, Kenneth and his wife Karen Berry, a sister Maxine and her husband Charles Cookson. A daughter Kimberly Pelletier. Two stepsons Richard and Roland Mallar. Two Granddaughters Renee Thibeault and her husband Bruce, Keri Pelletier. One step Grandson Jason Mallar and his wife Danielle. Three Great Grandsons Greyson Thibeault, Julian and Riley Mallar. Many Nieces and Nephews.
At Ellen's request private services at Jacksonville Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements made by Memorial-Alternatives, Bangor.
