GREENBUSH - Daniel G. Russell, 76, died September 24, 2021, at a Bangor hospital. Danny was born on January 6, 1945, in Fort Fairfield, the first son of Francis and Doris (Lewis) Russell.
Danny graduated from Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1963. He enlisted in the Maine Army National Guard in 1966 serving 6 years. After spending his early life as a potato farmer, Danny spent over 40 years as an over the road truck driver. He worked for over 10 of the last years prior to retirement for his second family at Hartt Transportation Systems in Bangor, where he was named the company driver of the year in 2003. Danny enjoyed fishing and camping all of his life and enjoyed any gathering with homemade food and his friends and family.
Danny is survived by his loving partner of 29 years, Cherilyn Sawyer, of Greenbush; son, Daniel J. Russell, of Burnham; brothers, Richard Russell, of Fredricton, New Brunswick, Canada, Francis Russell and his wife, Glenna of Plattsburgh, New York, Charles Russell and his wife, Susan, of Fort Fairfield, Maine, Paul Russell and his wife, Margret of Assonet, of Massachusetts; sister, Ruth McCue and her husband, Terrance, of Greenbush, Maine; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews and their families. Danny was predeceased by both of his loving parents.
In honor of his wishes, there will not be a funeral service or visiting hours, but friends and family will gather at our family farm in Fort Fairfield to celebrate his life, tell stories, and enjoy good food and company on July 3, 2022. Danny had a great love for animals all of his life. Those who wish to honor his memory are asked to make a donation to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mt. Hope Ave., Bangor, ME 04401.
