Chelsea M. Clements, 23, passed away unexpectedly on February 4th, 2020 at her home in Brewer. Chelsea was born on Novemeber 28th, 1996 in Bangor, the daughter of Jeffrey Clements and Trista McGibney.
Chelsea attended Nokomis and then graduated from M.C.I. in 2015. At a young age, Chelsea was an active athlete and spent many years playing basketball and softball. Most recently after high school, she enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and friends and being at her family camp.
Chelsea had a witty sense of humor, with a contagious smile and was able to make those laugh around her. Aside from her family and friends, she loved animals, children and especially shopping.
Chelsea was strong-willed, ambitious and motivated to help those around her who struggled with addiction. Her heroin addiction began around age 18, after the traumatic loss of her niece. From there she battled with her addiction before entering a residential rehab, graduating in 2019.. Chelsea had been focused on healing from her addiction with the support of her family and close friends. We were all so proud of everything she had accomplished in the past year. She was becoming the woman she wanted to be and was learning to love herself. Unfortunately, she succumbed to this terrible disease.
In addition to her parents, Chelsea is survived by her brother, Cody McGibney and significant other Madelene Fletcher, her sister, Taylor Clements and significant other Joshua Savageau, her mother's significant other Larry Young, Grandmother Karen McGibney, Grandparents Harold and Linda Clements, Grandparents Joyce and Timothy Dearborn, Great Grandmother Leta Dearborn, aunts and uncles; Deanna and David Smith, Greg and Daria Clements, Pam Jacobson, Melissa and Danny Davies, Michelle and Jason Davis, her special friend Josh Celeste, many cousins and extended family members. She is predeceased by her Grandfather Larry McGibney, her niece Adalee Savageau, her uncle Cameron Ricker and Great Grandfather Larry Dearborn.
In Chelsea's own words,
"I'm grateful for this beautiful journey I've been on this past year in recovery and wouldn't change it for anything. I've been blessed with wonderful new friendships and the most amazing family that has never gave up on me and also loved me when I didn't love myself."
A private celebration of life will be held for family and close friends on February 15th at 1pm at the Elks Lodge in Bangor.
