Barbara attended North Shore High School, Class of 1958. She went on to live a very full and active life on Long Island, NY. A graduate of NYIT, and holding many positions in life, she focused her career in fitness and swimming, giving back to others working for the community and helping people live active, healthy lives. She was an outstanding athlete and loved to exercise, especially swimming and dancing. She was a Jill-of-all trades and held several different types of positions at places including being a secretary at BOCES and at Portledge School, the Glen Cove YMCA, a fitness trainer and aerobics instructor and the director of the swim instruction program at West Harbor Beach in Bayville, NY. Living in several communities on Long Island, with Riverhead being the last, she always expressed her love for Sea Cliff where she grew up, and Bayville where she lived for many years. She was most happy being in and near the sea. Barbara loved to garden and take care of her home and property. She had many exciting adventures in her life such as being in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade 4 times as a balloon handler. She also got to dance in a halftime show of Jet’s NFL game. Barbara had a great sense of humor and will be remembered by the many moments of laughter.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her oldest son, Michael Kennedy. She is survived by her son, Todd Kennedy and wife, Jenny; daughters, Jennifer Evers and her husband, Jonathan and Andrea Lee and her husband, Brian; grandchildren, Erin Amato and husband, Adam, Colin Kennedy, Brianna Evers and Kelsey Evers, and a large, extended family and friends all over.
