Avis Marie (Terrill) Mower, 89, widow of Frank Edward Mower, passed away at home on November 20, 2022.
Avis was born July 27, 1933, in Bangor, the youngest of eight children born to George Wentworth and Daisy Lucinda (Grant) Terrill.
In June 1949, Avis spied Frank across the room at a wedding reception. For her, it was love at first sight. They married on September 14, 1952 and spent 68 love-filled years together – many of which were spent at the family’s dairy farm on Pushaw Road in Bangor – until Frank’s death on October 8, 2020. Avis never truly recovered from the loss of her best friend and soulmate. They were anchors for each other throughout the years and valued quality time together over everything. The mother of four boys, Avis was a stay-at-home mom who enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilting and cooking.
Surviving are her sons, Glenn and his wife, Vicki, of Bangor; Steve of Somerset, WI; Brian and his wife, Debbie, of Hermon; Dale and his wife, Patti, of Bangor; seven grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Kerry Riker, Joanne Riker, and the entire team at St. Joseph Home Care & Hospice for their support and compassionate care.
At her request, there will be no memorial service. The ashes of Frank and Avis will be commingled – an earthly gesture symbolizing the eternal journey they will begin together once they reunite above – ensuring they can hold hands forever. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Bangor, where a graveside service will be conducted at a later date.
