HERMON - Aaron J. Smith, 47, passed suddenly on August 4, 2024, near his home in Hermon.
He was born November 21, 1976, in Springfield Massachusetts, to parents Douglas and Reta
(Fields) Smith.
Aaron graduated from Mattanawcook, Class of 1995. While attending academy, he served as
President of Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (VICA) for the 1993/94 School Year, and
Vice President for the 1994/95 School Year. A few years after attending Central Maine Technical
College in 1996, he met Carrie Harvey whom he shared 24 years. He dedicated 12 years of his
career working as a Direct Support Professional (DSP), a role that was deeply meaningful to
him.
Surviving, in addition to his partner, Carrie Harvey, are his daughter, Ashlee Harvey Smith; his
dewclawed friend, Dexter; beloved brother, Steve; step-sisters, Sally and Kathryn Cadwgan;
cousins Janet Spaulding Courtois, Mark Fields, Loren Fields, Brent Spaulding, Loretta
Spaulding; and life long friends Jay Long, Eric Staples, and Greg Stewart. In addition to his
parents, Douglas and Reta, Aaron was predeceased by his brother, Alexander (Sandy) Smith,
and son, Nashtenn J. Harvey Smith.
The family invites relatives, friends, and all those who knew and wish to honor Aaron to attend
the Memorial on Saturday, August 24, 2024 between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Guests are

Stories and memories of Aaron’s life will be shared, with his favorite music, and photos that
capture his spirit. The memorial service will be held outdoors in honor of his love for nature. In
the event of rain, the service will be moved indoors on the same day. Condolences to the family
